Firstly, if you have any concerns about your own health or symptoms, please visit

I would like to assure you that the Government has put in place a number of measures to support workers at this difficult time. They are also working to urgently bring forward further measures.

I know how difficult this time must be for you, particularly with regard to paying your bills. The Government has announced a number of measures to support you, which can be found here.

I would encourage you to take full advantage of these measures and if you have any difficulty in doing so, please do let me know. These come on top of the measures announced in the budget last week.

Many banks have also announced measures to ease the burden around debt repayments. I would encourage you to contact your bank in the first instance to see what help they are specifically offering.

The Government have announced that there will be a complete ban on evictions and additional protection for renters. The details of this have been set out here. As a result of these measures, no renters in private or social accommodation needs to be concerned about the threat of eviction. Further announcements about the details of this will be made immediately.

If you have a mortgage, the Government has announced that there will be a three-month holiday on mortgage payments for those in need.

Council Tax
I am in constant contact with the Chief Executive of Harlow Council to raise my concerns for residents who pay council tax, and I have tabled Parliamentary Questions and written to the Treasury Ministers with regard to council tax. I have requested more information from other sources of Government branches. As soon as I receive responses, I will let you know.

Further updates and announcements from the Government about a wider range of measures to support everyone can be found here.

As Prime Minister Boris Johnson said, Great Britain will overcome the coronavirus and get through this. However, the road ahead is going to be hard for everyone.

Harlow is a very special place, with extraordinary reserves of kindness and goodwill. It is a place where people look out for one another. Let us get through this together.

I know how worrying a time this must be fore you so, if there is anything else I can do to help and support you or your family, please do not hesitate to contact me.

With every best wish,
