On Friday 1st July, to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, Robert Halfon MP attended a memorial event in Harlow Town Centre.
Robert said, “It was a huge honour to attend the Battle of Somme commemoration in Market Square at 7am today. I’d like to give special thanks to Harlow Council, the WWI Working Group, and Kier Harlow for making this event possible. It was an incredibly moving event, especially with the presence of the Essex Yeomanry and the prayers given by the town Chaplain and town Rabbi. It is wonderful to be able to commemorate this tragic battle and Harlow’s heritage in this way and to remember the people of Harlow who gave their lives.
