Concerned residents and businesses in Nazeing who are worried about the activities at a local recycling business have contacted their MP, Robert Halfon, about the problem.
The Nazeing MP has written to both the Environment Agency and DEFRA to raise the issues that he has been made aware by residents. These concerns include the stockpiling of wood as a potential fire hazard and the generation of dust which is having a negative impact on glasshouse businesses and causing health worries for residents.
Robert said, “This matter has been ongoing for some months now without any resolution and, following on from two other fires, I am urging for a full investigation to be carried out and immediate action taken if there is any breach of regulations. I am concerned that despite an offer by the Parish Council to fund dust monitoring, the Environment Agency is unwilling to do this and I will be taking this further with the Minister responsible for the Agency.’’
